Recently Watched - 2026.04
If you’ve read the last The Prod Recap, you may have noticed a new section: my “recently watched” titles. Thought I’d mix up something new and fun and also share more about ‘em here!
The watchlist is always ever growing, but I’m trying to make more of an effort to get through them in some way. Not so much to “binge watch,” but more for…dare I say, research. Movies or series often become references to other shows we work on, and it’s so much easier to translate reviews/notes when you have context to what the team is referring to. Good ice-breaker too when someone is describing a scene but can’t remember the title —and you’re the hero who happens to name it!
It’s also been a really nice relaxing time while the kiddo’s asleep. :D

Title: Demon Slayer: Mugen Train

Why I watched it? It’s been on my list for the longest time! This new gen of anime is amazing!
Does it get referenced at work? Mm, not really —but artists know it and it’s fun to geek out!
Did I enjoy it? YES. New fav character unlocked!

Title: Ahsoka
VFX, series, season 1, 2023
Why I watched it? Been on my list since it was first announced. I’ve been an Ahsoka fan since The Clone Wars, and since meeting Ashley Eckstein in SDCC. Imagine how I nerded out when I saw Ahsoka in The Mandalorian!
Does it get referenced at work? Yup!

Title: Whiplash
Live Action, film, 2014
Why I watched it? I’ve always heard good things, and Netflix was gonna remove it at the EOM.
Does it get referenced at work? Not really, except for social conversations.
Did I enjoy it? Yes, though I’m very sad that the musical references and appreciation was lost on me because I am not musically inclined nor have been formally educated to understand.

Title: Gen V

Why I watched it? Was told to watch Gen V before watching the last season of The Boys.
Does it get referenced at work? Nope, I have yet to hear anyone mention it.
Did I enjoy it? Unexpectedly, yes. It’s like a Young Justice version of The Boys —and also funnier.
