Recently Watched - 2026.06

The watchlist is always ever growing, but I’m trying to make more of an effort to get through them in some way. Not so much to “binge watch,” but more for…dare I say, research. Movies or series often become references to other shows we work on, and it’s so much easier to translate reviews/notes when you have context to what the team is referring to. Good ice-breaker too!

Here’s the latest set!

Title: Gen V
VFX, series, season 2, 2025

Why I watched it? Got hooked on S1 and for context before watching The Boys final season.

Does it get referenced at work? Nope, but maybe not yet. It’s pretty recent.

Did I enjoy it? You bet! Love Emma!

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★

Title: The Boys
VFX, series, season 5, 2025

Why I watched it? Been a fan of the series, and heard this is the series finale.

Does it get referenced at work? Not yet.

Did I enjoy it? For the most part. Didn’t realize I’ve worked with the VFX Supe before until the final episode’s credit roll and his name sounded familiar.

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ☆

Title: House of Gucci
Live Action, film, 2021

Why I watched it? Has been on my list for years and it was leaving Prime soon :P

Does it get referenced at work? Nope! This one is for me for me.

Did I enjoy it? It was a fun watch!

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★

Title: The Apothecary Diaries
animation, series, season 1, 2024

Why I watched it? Seemed to be highly recommended in the new anime list.

Does it get referenced at work? Maybe when I get back to an animation studio. Mostly a different crowd when you’re in a VFX studio~

Did I enjoy it? So far, yes! It’s giving Himouto! Umaru-chan vibes mixed with Martin Mystery (which I both love) because of all the chibi transitions. =w=
